Endlich gibt es nun die schönen Taschen von Freitag nicht nur für den wadengestählten Fahrradkuriere und seine kreativen Nachahmer sondern auch für die moderne Frau, die eine Tasche benötigt um ihre Turnschuhe, die sie im Büro gegen die Highheels (Männerträume) eintauscht, zu verstauen. Bei der neuen Reference Collection haben sich die beiden Brüder von Taschen der militärischen und zivilen Pferdeboten des 19. Jahrhunderts inspirieren lassen. Chic. Lanciert wird die neue Kollektion im Rahmen des Zeitungsprojekt «Daily Reference».Velofahrer (wir hätten uns Reiter gewünscht) verteilen die frisch gedruckten Exemplare in ausgewählten Cafés.

Gleichzeitig zum Lunch der neuen Kollektion organisieren die “FREITAGS am Donnerstag” gemeinsam mit Tina Roth Eisenberg, (unsere Schweizerin in NewYork) jeden Donnerstag im September eine Vortrag zum Thema “journalism and media” mit ausgewählten Gästen. Leider gibt es nur eine beschränkte Anzahl von Plätzen – Reservationsversuche werden von swissmiss persönlich entgegen genommen.

WOOFUS – handmade shirts since 2009

Der junge Designer Daniel Knussmann, präsentierte 2009 unter dem Labelnamen WOOFUS erstmals seine Shirt-Kollektion auf der Stijl Messe in Mainz. Die streng limitierte klein Auflage wird von Hand gearbeitet und ausschliesslich aus fair gehandelter und biologischer Baumwolle hergestellt.

Entirely made in Africa: Sawa sneakers

Unlike a lot of shoes that source their material from Africa, Sawa Shoes are made entirely on the continent. It is a project whose ambition is to set the foundations of a sustainable economy, thanks to a product enriched in value from local genuine know how. Using canvas from Cameroon, leather from Nigeria, lace from Tunisia, EVA and rubberfrom Egypt, and Packaging from South Africa, the shoes design is inspired from the omnipresence of second hand cloths sent from developed countries and input into the African economy.
